All ages!
We offer a Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) course for ages 0-3. In this course we work with the child as well as their parent in order to build foundational musical knowledge. In this course, we learn to clap rhythms, recognize patterns, socialize, and memorize short songs / nursery rhymes. The schedule is repetitive in order to create a consistent environment. This class is intended for both the child and parent in order to implement music into their daily lives. Our instructor is a Suzuki trained teacher.
For our private lessons, we teach ages 5 to adult students; no prior knowledge required :)
$155 per month. In this, you would have one lesson per week. Once you have signed up for lessons, you will have a permanent lesson slot at the same time and day each week.
efore you officially register for lessons, we will book a trial lesson for you. (Or you can register for one on our website under the “Register for Intro Lesson” button on our home page.) After the trial, if you have decided to proceed with lessons, you can register on our website! From our home page, you can click the “Register for Lessons Here” button to access our registration form. Or if you would prefer to stop by the shop, we can help you fill it out at the front desk! Once you have confirmed your lesson time, your spot is reserved.
Our trial lessons are free! We offer them to introduce you to one of our teachers and see if you are compatible with the way we teach. Trial lessons for beginners normally include introduction to the instrument and assessing what you already know. Can you read music? Have you played an instrument before? Have you played this instrument before? These are all questions that may be asked at your trial lesson. All students are different and, therefore, trial lessons will be unique depending on your proficiency.
Azure Violins lessons are student focused. If in the beginning, you are unable to read music and know little about the instrument you are starting, we will start with strengthening foundational knowledge. For Violin, Viola, and Cello lessons, we typically begin using the “Essential Elements” book** for the instrument, but with time we move to working on longer pieces. If you are interested in a particular song, we can try to get the sheet music and use it as a tool for instruction. For those who are in the midst of auditions, we will help with preparation and audition etiquette.
Piano and Ukulele books** are dependent on the age of the student. The teacher will inform you of the materials needed during / after the trial lesson.
**All books are available in the shop and do not need to be purchased before you begin lessons. (Plus students get a discount on shop purchases!)
We strongly recommend coming to the shop for in-person lessons, but can also teach online lessons through Zoom.
Lessons are 30 minutes long, once a week, and on the same day / time. Some (more advanced) students request hour-long lessons, but they are fulfilled depending on your teacher's schedule. Your slot is secured while you are a student at Azure Violins. Our lesson program is on-going until you choose to stop! Some of our classes have a defined duration (1-3 months).
We use an online portal with a digital calendar that shows your previous and future lessons! It also sends an email reminder the day before your lesson, any notes your teacher makes during lessons, and keeps track of billing information.
Most of our lessons are individual, private lessons. If you are interested in small group lessons, we can accommodate 2-3 students per group. Contact us to let us know if you would like to book a group lesson!
Our teachers are assigned based on your instrument as well as their availability. To learn about each of our teachers, you can read about them on our “About Us” page. If you have a preference of who you would like to work with, you can include it on your sign up form!
Yes! Our teachers had all been vetted with background checks and references.
Yes! We offer free estimates for repairs and our luthier works in-shop to complete maintenance requests. Pricing for repairs is dependent on a few variables: like labor and parts. It could take 2-3 weeks for the repairs to be completed. If you are renting an instrument from us, let us know if there is a concern and accidental damage are covered by the Maintenance Plan.** When your instrument is ready to be picked up, we will call or email you to let you know.
Yes! If you purchase strings in store (and have your instrument on-hand) we will install the strings for you for free. This should take only a few minutes depending on if a staff member is available. Your instrument would be ready to go home with you that day!
Yes! Our violin / viola rentals start at 36$ per month and are rent-to-own. 6$ of the 36$ is for our Maintenance Plan. This covers things like; broken strings, broken pieces, and general wear and tear. If you were to need to size up your instrument while you are renting, your payments would transfer to the new instrument (For example, if you have already paid 200$ for your rental, that would come off of the overall price of the new instrument). Cello and bass rentals may take a few weeks to fulfill.
You can exchange, return, or purchase rentals at any time!
Please visit our “Rentals” page on our website for more information.
Yes! We have a wide selection of sheet music available for purchase ranging from classical pieces to compositions from hit movies, and songs from your favorite artists.
Yes! If you are interested in a certain piece of music, let us know and we can source it for you. Leave your name, number, and email address with the desk in-store and we will reach out when we get it in stock.
